Industry Knowledge
Industry Knowledge Over 78% of our radio communications turnover is generated from customers that operate in the Construction and Engineering Industry including single source agreements with Vinci Construction, HTC Plant and United House Construction. Approximately 40% of this is allocated within the Power Generation sector, with longstanding relationships with Doosan Babcock and Drax Power Limited.

We therefore understand the challenges your market present and your demand for equipment of the highest calibre.

Furthermore, we have been selected as a training partner for MOD and British Embassy radio engineers. Our Senior Radio Engineers are highly specialised in the design and calibration of Motorola radio system; over the previous two years we have successfully designed and installed over twenty five systems worldwide.

Experience
SFL Mobile Radio has vast experience with power station environments for the provision of two way radio equipment. During many two way radio infrastructure rollouts, we have developed an in-depth understanding throughout the different stages of the project which include:

  • Planning
  • Infrastructure rollout
  • Supply
  • Maintenance throughout project
  • Return of equipment (off-hire)
  • Losses

It is our understanding of the typical stages that has allowed us to build strong working relationships with our existing client and their operational staff on power station and large construction projects – relationships that we hope to build on in the future.

Focused Account Management
Senior SFL colleagues with vast knowledge of the Power Station and Construction Sectors are technically trained to the highest levels in order to reflect your individual project objectives. We will drive the team to build strong relationships with your Procurement and Field Operational personnel alike with named points of contact dedicated to delivering the best communications solutions to you.

We have a dedicated hire desk to fulfil all functions of the hire process seamlessly as according to your Terms & Conditions.

Quality of Equipment
Our radio hire fleet of in excess of 3500 portables, mobiles, fixed base stations and repeaters is managed utilised using our recently installed Syrinx Software. The software fully orchestrates the flow of the hire from the initial procurement to the servicing of our assets, whether they are on-site or back in stock. Our hire radio equipment is regularly serviced and tested after every hire which includes an in depth and state of the art battery management schedule. SFL Guarantee that all equipment is clean, extremely well maintained and will not let our client down. All ATEX Approval is despatched with every order or exchange.

SFL offer an exchange of faulty equipment within 24 hours either by courier or via a field engineer, depending on the most efficient method. All employees follow an escalation process to control and monitor this process.

SFL are a member of the FCS Silver Award scheme for Hirers of radio equipment.

Product Investment
SFL have invested over £1.5m solely on digital Motorola radio equipment over the past 24 months and will continue with further substantial investment in the future with ATEX Approved radio equipment which was released earlier this year, underpinning our commitment to deliver quality applications to our clients. Our fleet is further complimented with only thoroughbred accessories that are supplied direct from the radio manufacturers rather than third party manufacturers.
Fast Availability
We understand that you have deadlines to work to and having the equipment you need, when you need it is of the upmost importance. Our extensive fleet of equipment means that once we have assessed your requirement we will deploy the optimum equipment for your requirements whether it be Analogue, ATEX or Digital systems. Furthermore our vast fully serviced stock is readily available to be used as ‘swap out’ kit, in the unlikely event of product failure within 24 hours.
Inventory Control
Our Team are dedicated to offering you complete transparency of the equipment that is on rental to our customers. You can manage your fleet of radio equipment via our ‘what’s our where’ software package which can be obtained instantly and sent to you electronically by our team of operatives.
Electronic Transactions
SFL has invested in an automated and electronic invoicing system which can be integrated into many purchase ledger software, thus, systemise many of the human aspects related to invoice processing and dramatically reducing administrative errors and costs alike.

Supply Chain Selection

SFL have a minimal supply chain, operating directly with radio manufacturers for the supply of radio equipment. Radio peripherals are purchased directly from RS components who will provide full COSSH data and any other official information regarding the safe use of the components.

Our policy is to only supply OEM products from the radio manufacturers such as Motorola, Icom, Kenwood, Tait, Peltor and Sordin in order to maintain the quality of our radio fleet investment. We will not provide any third party manufactured products unless they are fully approved by the manufacturer as not to compromise the quality of our fleet – we are passionate on protecting the quality of our fleet.

Customer Feedback

Being a customer led business, our team take customer feedback extremely seriously in order to design and implement improvements. In order to create a competitive advantage, we appreciate customer feedback to be crucial.

We have a Customer Relationship Management software which every engineer and account manager has access to in order to obtain feedback the customer is called 1 month following their order (if we have not had contact prior to this timescale), to obtain feedback. The feedback is then logged and any amendments SFL can change to improve upon is discussed in internal monthly team meetings and implemented where applicable.

We have regular monthly and quarterly meetings with the procurement departments of our Key Accounts and we encourage any form of feedback that may lead to an improvement within the business.

Our field staff are actively encouraged to obtain feedback whilst being on site with the end user. An example of an improvement we feel has been made recently as a result of customer criticism to Neil Bethell (SFL Field Engineer):

  • Problem Discussed: the operatives on a power station found it difficult to see and therefore locate their portable radio if they placed it down in dull lit environment.
  • Solution: to design and print a high visibility heavy duty label to cover the front of the radio with a space for the radio ID to be printed when distributed by the customer.

This solution was implemented early in 2012 and though simple, has proved a success in the combat against losses
