JULY 2010
SFL Mobile Radio have now set up a Radio Messaging System link within Wythenshawe town centre security team which is linked to the police and shops. There are more than 30 shops now on the radio link and as this is an ongoing scheme in which more are joining each week.
The RMS system is a computer, situated within the town's security control room. Each time there is a broadcast made on a mobile radio device from one of the outlets, it is logged on the computer. There is a panic button on every mobile radio handset, if a member of staff was to press the button in an emergency, the computer sounds an alarm and the problem is dealt with immediatley. The police are also linked to this system who patrol the town centre, so instead of trying to call the police on the phone, a simple call on the security radio can get them there in seconds.
