Supporting Basket Brigade UK – Delivering Christmas Across London

For many years, SFL Mobile Radio has supported Basket Brigade UK by providing two-way radios to coordinate their annual Christmas food distribution. As a 100% volunteer-led charity with no income, their work depends entirely on community support and trusted partners.

In December 2025, the charity delivered:

• 1,500 food baskets
• Supporting approximately 6,000 people across London
• Packed by 545 adults and 216 children
• Delivered by 226 volunteers
• A drive-through event on 24th December in Putney, expanding their reach further

Coordinating hundreds of volunteers across multiple boroughs requires clear, instant communication. Our radios enabled delivery teams, coordinators, and packing crews to stay connected throughout the day, manage routes efficiently, and respond quickly to any changes — ensuring the operation ran smoothly from start to finish.

The Impact

Behind every basket is a family facing isolation or hardship, one recipient shared:
“Thank you for this lovely hamper. It is lovely to think that people you do not know care enough to send such a worthy gift. It meant everything to me and my family.”

Another explained:
“Due to my severely disabled son, we can’t go out and people can’t come into our home. Christmas is incredibly lonely. But because of your gift, it felt like someone was there who cared about us. Thank you for your love and support.”

These messages reflect the real difference the charity makes to individuals who might otherwise feel forgotten at Christmas.

Why Partnership Matters

Without donated communications equipment, the charity would face significant additional costs — diverting funds away from purchasing food. By providing reliable radios each year, SFL Mobile Radio helps ensure resources are focused where they matter most: supporting families across London.
