Two-way radios instrumental in organising Festival of Transport
Now in its ninth year of running, the Birkenhead Park Festival of Transport has come to rely on the hire of two-way radios to co-ordinate communications throughout the two day event (24-25 September 2016).
SFL Mobile Radio will provide 46 Motorola DP 3400 digital two-way radios, 46 ear pieces and 10 spare batteries to the show’s organisers for use across the park by stewards and stall holders.
Festival of Transport Event Treasurer Ian Lea, believes the radio network is crucial to the smooth running of the show and its day-to-day communications. He said: “Without the use of radios, the event would be very difficult to put on.”
A portable peli-case digital repeater system will also be used to boost the signal across the large area the event covers.
This year’s event will commemorate the 76th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain and displays will include a full-size replica Spitfire, a V1 ‘Doodle-Bug’ and a Messerschmitt Me109. Members of the Home Guard, affectionately known as ‘Dad’s Army’, will carry out re-enactment parades.
Also on display will be a host of steam and historic vehicle exhibits, together with family favourites including, pony and donkey rides, a climbing wall, laser shooting and tiny-tots mini trikes.
This year exhibits and events will be situated in the upper park – a road-train will transport visitors from the lower park (Visitor Centre and Cole Street entrance) to the entrance in Ashville Road.
