City Church utilises two-way radios to support operations and events

Situated in the centre of Newcastle, City Church is a large building consisting of a 500 capacity hall and 5 floors of conference and meeting rooms. On Sundays the building is used for children’s work on most floors with the main hall full of people. The building is also utilised during the week with 3 external charity tenants and various classes and evening groups.

Being a hive of activity it is paramount to have a good communication system in place and for this City Church turned to SFL who after listening to their requirements recommended Motorola DP1400 radios. When asked about the main requirements for the radios Facilities Manager Sally Hill commented:

‘The main requirement is for Sunday morning and large events, to have communication between the stewards in the main hall and each team leader on the other side of the building for safety and security, especially during a fire alarm. The church staff also use them during the week for lone working on certain floors or the cleaners who go around the building alone’

The new system is living up to their expectations with Sally further commenting:

‘We love the radios. They are great with the charging station as they all have a place so don’t go missing. They look and sound professional and it gives the stewards extra confidence in their evacuation procedure.’
